Job totals are on the rise, yet stay short of pre-recession levels

The recession officially began in December of that year. Two other states have posted six-figure gains since August 2011: Texas (up 259,500 jobs) and New York (up 121,900). The biggest year-to-year percentage gain belongs to North Dakota at 6.8 percent.
